Can light be controlled with magnets?

A friend of mine and I brainstormed for a while and we thought that if you could control light or electrons with powerful magnetic fields, you might be able to concentrate the magnetic field in a tube-shaped pattern. I think by now you know where this is going... I know that electrons are charged particles, so they can be controlled with magnets. But what about photons? Can they be controlled with magnets?
