The catcher and the rye?

Holden is very spur-of-the-moment and tends to make off-the-wall decisions without thinking them through or thinking of the consequences. He decides to "move out west" and pretend he's a deaf mute so that he'll never have to talk to anyone ever again... he plans to work at a gas station and build a cabin in the woods.
