Is this an appropriate consequence?

My 15 year old daughter is disrespectful (rude, arguing, talking back, bickering with siblings, slamming doors, blasting radio, etc.) I am considering adding non-routine chores for each strike three offense. (seasonal chores like washing windows, dusting ceiling fans, washing baseboards, organizing cabinets, washing walls, pulling weeds, etc.) Is this appropriate? If her 9 year old sister is rude, I could do the same (wash baseboards, clean mirrors, dust bookshelves, etc.). But is this form of discipline reasonable or is there some drawback I don't see? I was thinking of having a list of all the non-routine chores and then having them choose one, or should I chose it for them? Currently, I send them to their rooms where they read and play and that annoys me because they like it too much and it isn't teaching them anything.
